answers&questions

this page is a permalink to the following question:

I plan to make all my major programs that worked on Windows work on my new Linux distro. (I also deleted Windows, which may be a slight blunder.) They include: 1) video editing software,

assuming you're fine switching workflows to one of the software that is cross platform, you'll be fine.

2) professional music notation software and a soundfont plugin,

sure

3) DAW and a lot of VST plugins (DAW is natively supported).

it's over.

What are the odds I make everything work with WINE?

i tried to get bitwig studio working with plugins through wine and it didn't work very well. while this was like 4 years ago, i am of the belief that it isn't worth spending hours to setup a software you're already paying support for, and that the compatibility layers will make the setup uncertain.

this is the main reason why i use a mac.

Do you have faith in the process? I may report back on the progress in a week.

i trust you. feel free to get in touch via email or whatever.

In case I do that, would you prefer I don't name the specific software but refer to it like I've done above?

that could be cute.
